EFIL Network of Schools
Join a European network of schools involved or wishing to get involved in individual pupil mobility and to advance internationalisation of their school!
The European Federation for Intercultural Learning (EFIL) is the umbrella platform for AFS organisations in Europe and the Mediterranean. EFIL works to expand access to inclusive and high-quality intercultural mobility through advocacy, increasing inclusivity, diversification and quality of intercultural learning opportunities and fostering active citizenship through volunteerism and intercultural learning experiences. Building on all the experience of the AFS network, EFIL aims at supporting internationalisation of schools, both through tools and resources to implement at school and through learning mobility opportunities for pupils and teachers.
The EFIL Network of Schools aims at creating a broad international movement for schools and teachers, providing multiple opportunities for internationalisation and professional learning experiences with colleagues abroad, and supporting teachers, who are the main drivers of internationalisation, in developing their own intercultural competence and skills in managing student mobility.
Have a look at all the opportunities for your school!
Intercultural learning (ICL) is vital for living in peace and build together a just, equal, democratic, and inclusive society. Invite AFS and their 70+ years of experience of intercultural programmes to your classroom for a unique workshop focused on ICL. Students and teachers will take away plenty of useful tools to become active citizens.
Welcome an exchange student in your school and host them in your community. It will give to all the opportunity to make life-long connections and embrace a new culture, without even moving, while giving students a warm experience during their study abroad period.
Send your students abroad for a longer period of time partnering up with non-profit pupil mobility organisations. The experience of a lifetime to strengthen their intercultural competence and enhance their open-mindedness and soft skills.
Take part in a class exchange to give students and teachers the opportunity to live a short but impactful international experience that will enhance their intercultural understanding and ignite the global citizen within them. Pair up with a class accros Europe, exchange and build a project, then visit them for a week and host them in your school in return!
Send your staff to one of EFIL’s international teacher training, delivered by its European Pool of Trainers. Teachers are the main drivers of internationalisation and need to develop their own intercultural competence and skills in managing student mobility. If you are looking for an immersive experience to meet educators from abroad, learn about their school system and exchange best practices and teaching methods, go for a Job Shadowing experience in another European school!
eTwinning is an online community for schools by the European Commission to collaborate and develop national and international projects across Europe. Join the Individual Pupil Mobility group managed by EFIL to connect with other schools organising IPM, get support with Learning Agreements and keep an eye out for learning opportunities.
Mobility opportunities for students and teachers can be funded through the Erasmus+ Programme.
Are you already E+ accredited? Do you wish to get the E+ accreditation? AFS can be your supporting organisation giving you access to a network of schools in Europe sharing the same quality standards for mobility.
